1. Keep your distance!

Leash your dog! Just like some people (🙋‍♀️) don't want to be approached every time they leave the house, neither do some dogs. Leave us introverts alone!!!!!!

2. Ask Permission

That said, if you want to approach a person/dog, ask for permission first - verbally from the human and by reading the other dog's body language. (More on dog-dog interactions to come in future Tip Tuesdays)

3. PAY. ATTENTION. TO. YOUR. DOG.

The number of dogs we come across on the trail with no human in sight is alarming. This is so irresponsible and dangerous for so many reasons!!!! Also on that note, you should be monitoring your dog's body language so that you can ensure that they are actually enjoying the outing. If they are uncomfortable, it's time to head home!

4. Clean Up

Clean up after yourself and your dog. Yes, that means 💩

BONUS TIP FROM CLARK: always bring treats (🧀) so that you can reinforce desired behavior!
